Wolverhampton’s Fordhouses Cricket Club celebrated the completion of their new pavillion with a day of events and an official opening ceremony performed by Sir Ian Botham.

The ECB Cricket Factory team were there supporting the Black Country Last Man Stands (LMS) representatives, Asif and Qamar, who were raising awareness of the area league.

Local Schools played a kwik cricket tournament in the morning, with the seniors playing a match in the warm(ish) glow of the spring sunshine.

The ECB Cricket Factory rig was popular with all ages. Some of the younger participants were quite a match for the local corporate teams and adults in their competitive spirits!

Special mention has to go to Chris Guest, County Cricket Development Officer for Staffordshire who threw the fastest throw of the season so far – a massive 80 mph! The highest speed we’ve ever had is 86 mph – from a professional player – so this was a truly tremendous effort.
