For this year’s Lincolnshire Show, the ECB Cricket Factory Crew teamed up with Lincolnshire Cricket in the Lincolnshire Sports Partnerships Sport Zone. The show – which was the 129th to be held – was over 2 days and the weather was reasonably kind for once, which made for a great event.
Fuelled by fantastic coffee cake from the WI stall, we had a fabulous day with a huge number of school visits who were part of the ‘Chance to Shine’ programme. The programme – which is the UK’s largest sports initiative – is bringing cricket back to state schools. Growing cricket at the grass roots level is exactly what Cricket Factory and the ECB Cricket Factory rig Roadshow is all about so it was great to have the chance to share experiences with the teachers and professionals involved in the programme.
We were also lucky enough to have ex-England rugby star and Clydesdale bank Ambassador Mike Catt come onto the rig and impress us all with a 70mph throw in the speed throw challenge – no mean feat!
