Tuesday saw the ECB cricket Factory Tour visit the city of Newcastle for an event to launch a new indoor cricket league specifically targeted at BME groups.
The league will run matches every Tuesday until Christmas and we saw plenty of natural talent on the rig on the day. We had adapted the rig’s equipment to include a speed bowling lane which created an added challenge for participants along with a target activity which had an extra ‘fitness’ element.
All the participants returned throughout the event to try and better their speed on the bowling lane and scores on the batting, catching and accuracy targets.
The event was created by Northumberland cricket in conjunction with Newcastle City Council and it is hoped that the league will also help combat community health issues such as diabetes.
New teams or individual participants are welcome so just turn up on a Tuesday at the Centre forSport if you’d like to play and join in. For more information, check out Active Newcastle hereĀ http://www.activenewcastle.co.uk/news/438/cricket-factory/.
