The Clydesbank 40 event in Taunton with Surrey playing against Somerset proved that yet again the Summer of 2012 will be on record as a rather damp one.

With only 4 overs played before rain stopped play for the day, the whole event was pretty challenging for all involved. With a number of other group games on the day ending in a no result due to the weather, it really was a victory for the great British rain over cricket.

Still, the brave ECB Cricket Factory crew soldiered on and we were delighted to see the county of somerset has some really strong players at a youth level. We were really impressed by a number of young participants who were scoring well into 50 mph on our speed throw challenge. Very impressive stuff.

Thanks to all who attended on the day. We tried to keep everyone’s spirits up but it’s not easy in the torrential rain. Big pat on the back for our crew who all did brilliantly.
