After the trials of the rain in Somerset, our last stop on the 2012 Cricket Factory Tour, we were hoping for more clement weather and thankfully Dorset did not disappoint. We had a great 2 days at the hugely successful Dorset County Show and enjoyed the fantastic attendance which was a record-breaking 60,000 this year.

Having spent 2 weeks on Weymouth beach as part of the Olympic celebrations, we were really pleased to see so many of the same families who came to visit us again – and beat their previous scores! A number of visitors commented on the differences between playing on grass compared to on sand at the beach. Great to see first-hand how the different playing surfaces can really add to the challenges of the game.

It’s always rewarding for us to know how keen the young people are to get back onto the rig and challenge themselves again in the core skill areas of cricket i.e. throwing, catching and batting. Our speed throw challenge remains ever popular (particularly with the dads) and we really enjoyed watching the renewed inter-family competitions.

We certainly enjoyed the weekend and are looking forward to meeting the next group of young challengers testing their cricketing skills at our next event which is Michael Vaughan’s Twenty20 England All Stars Cricket Legends Match at Sheffield Collegiate Cricket Club. See you there maybe!
