We had a fantastic event at Michael Vaughan’s Twenty20 England Allstars cricket legends match in Sheffield. The beautiful weather coupled with the action on and around the cricket pitch made for an amazing family day out and there were plenty of families taking advantage of the last gasp of the summer holidays.

With a enthusiastic crowd to watch the match, there was also an ECB kids Kwik Cricket tournament taking place earlier in the day. We had great fun coaching the future cricketing stars around the ECB Cricket Factory rig as well as through some of the challenges using the ECB Cricket Skill Sets.

We were joined by Paul Collingwood – who plays for Durham County Cricket Club and England – and who had great fun challenging himself on the different sections of the rig. It made a bit of a change from playing in the match as one of Vaughan’s 11 for sure.

We were also lucky enough to welcome Richard Kettleborough onto the rig; an international cricket umpire who demonstrated his batting skills gained during his first class county cricket career for Yorkshire.

By some happy chance the match turned out to be a draw between the 2 teams thanks to some excellent bowling from Robbie Savage among others who, as an ex footballer, acquitted himself well given he claims to have had no formal cricket training. Maybe all that quickstep action on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing last year wasn’t wasted after all.
